The Minister of Finance, Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar, has urged the Capital Markets Tribunal to provide comprehensive education on the role and functions of the Capital Markets Council.

The initiative aims to ensure that investors and other stakeholders fully understand how to use the Council to resolve disputes and address market challenges.

Ambassador Omar made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Capital Markets Tribunal, led by its Chairman, Judge Dr. Ntemi Kilekamajenga, at the Ministry of Finance’s offices in Dar es Salaam.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a favorable investment environment that attracts capital and drives national development, saying that educating stakeholders is key to strengthening confidence in the markets.

Chairman Dr. Kilekamajenga said the Tribunal was established as a specialized platform to handle disputes arising in the capital markets.

He added that it also has the authority to resolve conflicts in commodity markets, including matters related to warehouse receipts.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Natu El-Maamry Mwamba; the Registrar of the Capital Markets Tribunal, Dr. Martin Kolikoli; and Acting Commissioner for Financial Sector Development, Ms. Dionisia Mjema.

The Tribunal plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency and accountability in Tanzania’s financial markets, providing investors with a reliable forum to address grievances and strengthen market confidence.

Ambassador Omar’s call highlights the government’s ongoing effort to support financial sector growth and broaden opportunities for all market participants.
