Tanzania has vast mineral resources, a growing market, and an investment-friendly environment, making it a prime destination for mineral value addition, says Eng. Yahya Samamba, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Minerals.
Speaking on February 5, 2026, at his Mtumba office during a meeting with Ministry staff celebrating his birthday, Eng. Samamba emphasized that every day is a chance to push the sector forward and strengthen Tanzania’s position as a hub for mineral processing in Africa.
“The unity and support shown by our staff reflect the strong collaboration needed to achieve the sector’s goals,” he said.
Eng. Samamba noted that all stakeholders have a duty to use the country’s resources wisely to create jobs, increase government revenue, and boost value addition in minerals.
He added that the Ministry will continue to enhance management systems, encourage investment in processing technologies, and advance the Minerals Vision 2030 agenda – Minerals are Life and Wealth – to make the sector a driving force for industrial growth and inclusive economic development.
He encouraged staff to remain focused, saying:"We are blessed with life, health, and presence. Every day is an opportunity to do more. In the Mineral Sector, each day allows us to advance our national goals by increasing in-country value addition, producing finished products, building capacity, and accelerating development for our Nation, communities, and future generations."
