The Tulia Trust, led by its Director Dr Tulia Ackson the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), former Speaker of the National Assembly and Member of Parliament for Uyole has continued to make a tangible impact on the lives of vulnerable families in Mbeya Region through a housing support initiative.
The Trust has handed over building materials for the construction of permanent houses for two disadvantaged families from Mwakibete and Itezi wards in Uyole Constituency.
The support targets families living in harsh conditions, with the aim of restoring dignity and improving their living standards.
Construction is set to commence on February 7 this year and is expected to be completed within one month.
The houses will then be handed over to Mr Tuli Mwantindili of Itongo Street in Mwakibete Ward and Ms Elizabeth Jimmy of Mwasote Street in Itezi Ward, who were identified through community structures as among the most vulnerable households in the area.
The initiative is implemented under the Tulia Trust Mtaani Kwetu programme, a grassroots-focused intervention designed to respond to urgent social needs within communities.
Once completed, the two houses will bring the total number of homes constructed by the Trust to 23.
Of these, 21 houses have been built within Mbeya Region, while two others were constructed in Morogoro and Ruvuma regions, underscoring the Trust’s wider commitment to social welfare beyond Uyole.
Residents and local leaders have commended the initiative, describing it as a practical demonstration of inclusive leadership and sustained commitment to improving the lives of the most vulnerable members of society.
