ZIMTRADE visits Tanzania to strengthen trade and business cooperation

The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) yesterday hosted a high-level delegation from the Zimbabwe Trade Development Authority (ZIMTRADE) to explore ways of strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The ZIMTRADE team was led by Mr. Brighton Mutingwende, Director of Finance, and included a representative from the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Tanzania

During the meeting, discussions focused on strategies to expand business opportunities, enhance trade partnerships, and share knowledge on trade development practices.

Dr. Latifa M. Khamis, Director General of TanTrade, used the opportunity to invite the Zimbabwean delegation to participate in the 50th Golden Jubilee edition of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (SABASABA)

The Embassy representative confirmed Zimbabwe’s full participation, promising a strong presence at one of East and Central Africa’s largest trade exhibitions.

The meeting also involved key institutions such as the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA), Workers’ Compensation Fund (WRRB), TANESCO, the Prime Minister’s Office–Labour, Energy and Water Regulatory Authority (ERB), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Zimbabwe. It was held at TanTrade Headquarters in Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere Stadium, Dar es Salaam.

Dr. Khamis said the visit reflects the growing commitment of both Tanzania and Zimbabwe to strengthen trade links, share expertise, and open up new business opportunities for local and regional investors.

She added that such cooperation could help Tanzanian businesses expand to Zimbabwe and beyond, while learning from Zimbabwe’s trade development strategies.

This initiative is part of Tanzania’s broader plan to promote regional trade, improve investment knowledge, and create a more vibrant business environment for local entrepreneurs.
