Tanzanians have been urged to turn out in large numbers tomorrow to accord a warm and dignified welcome to the national football team, Taifa Stars, following their historic performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where they reached the Round of 16.

The call was issued by the Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC), Neema Msitha, who said the achievement marks a major milestone in the country’s football journey and deserves collective national recognition.

Msitha noted that the success is a product of commitment and teamwork involving the players, the technical bench and team leadership, adding that public support would further motivate the squad as it prepares for future international assignments.

According to the programme, Taifa Stars are scheduled to arrive at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Upon arrival, the team will take part in a special victory procession through selected parts of the city, allowing fans and residents to celebrate and congratulate them.

She called on supporters to maintain order and discipline during the reception, emphasizing that the event is not only a celebration of success but also part of broader efforts to strengthen football development and nurture a winning culture in the country.

Msitha expressed optimism about the team’s future, saying the performance at AFCON 2025 has raised national expectations and demonstrated that Tanzania can compete strongly on the continental stage.
