Tanzania is attracting global investors as it highlights opportunities in the oil and gas sector at the ongoing India Energy Week (IEW 2026).

Deputy Minister of Energy, Salome Makamba, participated today, January 28, 2026, in a ministerial panel discussing investment and international cooperation in the energy sector.

Hon. Makamba said Tanzania is committed to creating a business-friendly environment and is advancing key projects, including seismic surveys in Eyasi–Wembere, Lindi, and Mtwara, alongside negotiations with investors for large-scale projects such as the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) initiative.

She added that the government is investing in gas distribution for industries, electricity generation, household use, and transport.

“The oil and gas sector is a critical engine for our economy. Public-private partnerships are essential to bring in technology and capital,” she noted.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that Tanzania’s strategic location allows it to serve neighboring countries through its ports and regional power networks while promoting environmental protection.

She stressed that the transition to clean energy must be fair, ensuring all citizens have access to affordable and reliable energy.

IEW 2026 provides Tanzania a platform to attract investment, showcase its energy potential, and drive sustainable economic growth.
