TAGCO strengthens capacity of government communication officers

By The Respondents Reporter

The Tanzania Government Communication Officers Association (TAGCO) has intensified efforts to enhance the skills and professionalism of government communication officers across public institutions, equipping them with modern tools to improve efficiency, transparency, and citizen engagement.

Speaking during the training, communication expert and facilitator Michael Malya emphasized that the programme aimed to harmonize government–public relations, foster mutual understanding, and strengthen effective, transparent communication in public service.

“I am delighted to contribute to this training for government communication officers. It provides a valuable platform to deepen knowledge of communication strategies, leverage technology, and strengthen the relationship between citizens and government,” Malya said.

Participants noted that the skills acquired would directly enhance their daily operations, enabling faster, more accurate communication and fostering stronger collaboration between government institutions and the public.

On behalf of the participants, Said Pazzi, Head of the Communication Unit at the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA), highlighted that the training had enhanced his understanding of how technology can optimize daily institutional operations, streamline communication, and improve information delivery to the public.

The officers commended TAGCO for organising the programme, which concluded on January 16, 2026, describing it as a significant step in building capacity and elevating the standards of government communication in Tanzania.
