The Director General of the Rural Energy Agency (REA), Mr. Hassan Saidy, has urged regional project supervisors to strengthen communication and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of rural electricity projects.

Mr. Saidy made the call on January 19, 2026, in Dodoma during a meeting with REA officials overseeing regional project management, shortly after signing contracts to extend electricity to 9,009 hamlets across mainland Tanzania.

“On January 17, we signed contracts with contractors to provide electricity to 9,009 hamlets. As we move into the implementation phase, I want to remind everyone of the importance of professionalism and effective coordination,” Mr. Saidy said.

He emphasized that REA must meet the high expectations of Tanzanians by strictly following government laws, procedures, and guidelines.

“Maintain strong communication and cooperation with Members of Parliament, regional and district leaders, TANESCO, contractors, village authorities, and project beneficiaries,” he stressed.

Mr. Saidy also called for close supervision of contractors, including daily monitoring and regular progress reports to local and regional leaders.

He underscored the importance of ensuring contractors prioritize employment for local residents.

Officials were reminded to submit timely updates on project progress, identify challenges early, and work with other government institutions such as TARURA and TFS to facilitate implementation.

The meeting focused on strategies to improve project management, track progress, and ensure that projects are executed efficiently, on time, and to high standards.
