Deputy Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Ng’wasi Kamani, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the private sector to drive economic growth and development.
Kamani made the remarks during a visit to Lake Zone Farm, a poultry company producing eggs and meat, in Ilemela District, Mwanza Region, on January 6, 2026.
She stressed that the government will continue facilitating private sector initiatives to help them achieve their goals.
“By supporting these initiatives, we not only help these enterprises grow but also inspire others to learn from their example. If we continue promoting innovation and the Ministry assists in reducing the cost of poultry feed, it will make the business environment easier for farmers. Consequently, the products reaching the community will be more affordable,” Kamani said.
She encouraged large-scale poultry farmers to establish systems that share knowledge and uplift smaller farmers, which he believes will boost productivity and benefit surrounding communities.
“More producers are still needed because the demand for protein from livestock is high. Even with a large number of chickens here, when it is time to sell those that have completed their egg-laying cycle, the market absorbs them without difficulty,” she added.
Lake Zone Farm Director, Ms. Joyce Kabago, thanked the government for allowing the company to import poultry equipment duty-free and for providing access to experts who visit regularly to offer technical support and advisory services.
