Authorities urge caution as rainy season brings road risks

By The Respondents Reporter

Authorities have called on citizens to remain vigilant during the ongoing rainy season to prevent accidents and damage to road infrastructure.

Engineer Victor Seff, Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA), made the appeal during a two-day management meeting in Dar es Salaam, which brought together agency executives, regional managers, and emergency project coordinators.

Engineer Seff urged road users to observe safety signs and avoid crossing roads or bridges flooded with water.

“Citizens should take precautions in their local areas or while traveling. If a bridge is submerged, it is safer to wait until the water recedes. This is the best way to prevent accidents and protect our infrastructure,” he said.

He also encouraged citizens to report any damage to roads or bridges immediately to district or regional offices, or directly to TARURA headquarters, to prevent accidents.

Engineer Seff warned that areas where roads or bridges have been washed away require extra caution to avoid potential harm.
