Simanjiro District in Manyara Region has experienced remarkable development under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the District Commissioner (DC), Fakii Raphael Lulandala, has said.

Speaking in Orkesumet, the district headquarters, DC Lulandala highlighted that in a relatively short period, the sixth-phase government has delivered tangible improvements across key sectors, including energy, health, water, and education.

“In the energy sector, all 56 villages in Simanjiro now have access to electricity. Only a few sub-villages remain, and they will be connected soon,” he said. He recalled that when President Samia took office, only 21 villages had electricity.

DC Lulandala also addressed misconceptions among some residents who were misled by politicians claiming their lands would be taken for wildlife reserves.

He reassured the community, saying: “President Samia will not take away land and provide electricity for elephants or hyenas instead of people. Today, people can see the truth for themselves.”

In healthcare, DC Lulandala said the district has grown from just three health centers to eight, bringing services closer to the people.

“Previously, only Orkesumet, Mirerani, and Naberera had health facilities. Five more centers have now been added, significantly improving access to care,” he said.

Progress has also been noted in water supply, where both residents and livestock now enjoy better access than before, easing one of the district’s longstanding challenges.

DC Lulandala praised President Samia for raising the profile of Simanjiro residents, citing the appointment of the district’s Member of Parliament, James Ole Millya, as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.

Education has also received a boost, with the construction of several primary and secondary schools to increase learning opportunities for local children.

He concluded that these achievements have earned the trust and support of the people of Simanjiro and Tanzania at large, who have rallied behind President Samia to continue leading the country with care and dedication to development.
