Prayer event in Kagera reflects political support and calls for unity

The Chairman of Tanzania’s ruling party youth wing (UVCCM), Faris Buruhan, has praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan for what he described as strong leadership and a firm commitment to addressing national development challenges.

Buruhan made the remarks during a special prayer event held in Katoro, Bukoba Vijijini District, Kagera Region, where he urged citizens to continue supporting the president and safeguarding national unity.

“Over the past four years, President Samia has demonstrated leadership, maturity, and determination,” Buruhan said. “Now that elections are behind us, citizens can see the results. We should continue to encourage her, stand with her, and support her whenever misinformation or disruption arises, as there is clear evidence of major development projects being implemented across our communities.”

He cited improvements at Katoro Secondary School, where he once studied, as an example of progress under the current administration.

According to Buruhan, the school previously faced severe shortages of classrooms and teachers, forcing students to share limited facilities. He said the school now has adequate classrooms, improved infrastructure, electricity, and water services.

Buruhan also thanked members of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in Bukoba Vijijini for their support during the recent party elections, in which he received 4,619 votes.

He said the prayer event was organised to express gratitude to God and the local community for their trust and support.

Speaking at the event, Kagera Regional Commissioner Hajati Fatma Mwassa commended Buruhan for organising the prayer gathering, describing it as a positive example of leadership.

She urged residents to continue promoting peace and stability, noting their importance for sustained development.

Religious leaders at the event echoed similar messages. Sheikh Haruna Kichwabuta called on citizens to uphold peace and social harmony.

At the same time, Imam Shabani Salehe Pembe praised Buruhan as a role model for young people and said his leadership qualities should be harnessed in national development efforts.
