The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Land, Natural Resources, and Tourism has praised the government for significantly addressing the shortage of staff in institutions under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.
The commendation was given by the Committee Chairperson, Thimotheo Mzava, in Dodoma during a training session on the structure and functions of the Ministry and its institutions.
He emphasized the need to continue efforts to maintain a balanced workforce within these institutions to ensure they fully execute their mandates.
Several committee members who had the opportunity to provide guidance and recommendations expressed their readiness to collaborate with the Ministry to promote conservation efforts, ensuring future generations benefit from Tanzania’s valuable natural resources.
Speaking at the conclusion of the session, the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, stated that the government remains committed to effectively managing and developing the conservation and tourism sector to benefit all citizens.
Institutions that presented their reports on behalf of the Minister included the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI), the College of African Wildlife Management (MWEKA), and the National College of Tourism (NCT).
