Over 100 Catholics lodge formal complaint against Church leaders today

By The Respondents Reporter

More than 100 members of the Catholic Church in Tanzania today took a bold step, visiting the Vatican Embassy to submit a formal complaint against Archbishop Paul Ruzoka Ruwa’ichi and Father Charles Kitima.

The letter, handed over through official diplomatic channels, accuses the church leaders of alleged breaches of ethical leadership, misuse of spiritual authority, and language deemed disrespectful to the congregation.

This action comes amid rising tensions within the Catholic Church, as some parishioners have openly challenged the positions and conduct of their leaders.

The complainants claim that instead of focusing on spiritual guidance, certain church officials have involved themselves in political matters, contrary to the ethical and moral teachings of the Holy Scriptures.

The Vatican Embassy formally received the complaints, marking a significant move by parishioners to hold church leadership accountable and protect the integrity of religious guidance in Tanzania.

Church sources note that this is part of an ongoing dialogue within the Catholic community about leadership ethics, transparency, and the role of clergy in society.

The submission signals growing demands for accountability and adherence to the moral standards expected of religious leaders.
