The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) has reviewed its performance for the first half of the 2025/26 Financial Year and outlined strategic priorities aimed at improving the delivery of legal services in the months ahead.
The review was conducted during a management meeting held in Dodoma and chaired by Solicitor General Dr Ally Possi, who underscored the importance of strengthening efficiency in the handling of civil litigation and arbitration cases on behalf of the Government and its institutions, both within and outside Tanzania.
Dr Possi said the meeting provided a critical platform to assess progress, identify operational gaps, and adopt new strategies to enhance institutional performance, particularly as the Office prepares for the annual Law Week commemorations scheduled for early February.
“This is a strategic meeting intended to sharpen our planning and execution of legal responsibilities, ensuring that the Office continues to deliver effective and impactful legal representation for the Government,” he said.
He also announced plans to expand the OSG’s footprint by establishing new regional offices in Katavi, Geita and Singida, a move expected to bring legal services closer to citizens while improving responsiveness and access to justice.
Dr Possi further urged the Office’s leadership to strengthen the use of digital and ICT systems to boost efficiency, accountability and service delivery.
Deputy Solicitor General Alice Mtulo, speaking on behalf of the management team, reaffirmed the Office’s commitment to timely and effective execution of its mandate as it enters the second half of the Financial Year.
The annual performance review meeting serves as a key accountability mechanism, enabling senior officials to evaluate achievements, align priorities and ensure the OSG remains well-positioned to protect the Government’s legal interests while promoting professionalism and efficiency in public legal services.
