The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism has presented its performance and implementation report to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Lands, Natural Resources and Tourism, as preparations intensify for the Second Meeting of the 13th Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The session, held in Dodoma on January 19, 2026, saw Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Dr Ashatu Kijaji (MP) briefing the committee on the ministry’s progress in executing its mandate.

In total, 16 reports covering the ministry and its institutions are expected to be scrutinised by the committee, chaired by Mr Thimotheo Paul Mnzava (MP).

Dr Kijaji highlighted key achievements and ongoing interventions aimed at strengthening conservation, promoting tourism growth and ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources, noting the sector’s contribution to economic development and job creation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Hamad Hassan Chande (MP), Permanent Secretary Dr Hassan Abbasi, Deputy Permanent Secretary Nkoba Mabula, senior management officials, and heads of institutions and training colleges under the ministry.

The engagement forms part of Parliament’s oversight function, allowing legislators to assess the ministry’s performance, review challenges and provide policy guidance ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary session.
