Mbowe urges opposition to join hands with government for national unity

By The Respondents Reporter

Former CHADEMA Chairman Freeman Mbowe has called on opposition leaders to collaborate with the government to strengthen national unity.

Speaking during the funeral of Tanzania’s first Governor, Edwin Mtei, in Arusha on Saturday, January 24, 2026, Mbowe emphasized the importance of opposition parties working together in harmony with government efforts to unify the country.

“Opposition parties must find ways to work together so that the nation is not divided into fragments by political interests,” Mbowe said.

He added that Tanzania should be a country built on development, love, and cohesion, allowing leaders at all levels to serve the people with peace and joy.

His remarks come as President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan continues to promote reconciliation and national solidarity through various initiatives.

Mbowe stressed that coordinated efforts between the government and opposition are key to building a united and prosperous nation.
