Mashujaa target strong finish to first round of Premier League

Mashujaa FC have intensified preparations as they seek to end the first round of the NBC Tanzania Mainland Premier League on a high note, with the club’s technical bench expressing confidence in the team’s readiness ahead of the league’s resumption.

Assistant coach Charles Fred said the coaching staff has put in place special plans to ensure the team secures positive results in the remaining first-round fixtures, which he believes are crucial in shaping the club’s overall season ambitions.

The league had been paused to allow Taifa Stars to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals held in Morocco, while a number of clubs were also involved in the Mapinduzi Cup, which concludes today in Zanzibar.

Speaking during a training session, Fred admitted Mashujaa struggled to post convincing results in some of their recent home matches before the break, a situation that forced the technical bench to reassess the team’s performance and address identified weaknesses.

“We did not perform to our expectations in some of our home games. That period gave us time to reflect, correct our mistakes and work on areas that let us down,” Fred said.

He noted that the immediate priority is to collect maximum points from the upcoming matches in order to place the club in a stronger position as the season progresses.

“At this stage, the players are technically and tactically prepared. They are mentally ready to compete, and their hunger to perform well and restore the team to the right path is very high,” he added.

Fred further revealed that the technical bench plans to organize friendly matches to fine-tune different departments of the squad, ensuring better balance and consistency before competitive fixtures resume.

On his part, Mashujaa FC spokesperson Steve Ndorobo confirmed that the club will play several build-up friendly matches based on recommendations from the technical team, with details of the fixtures to be released in due course.

Ndorobo also said the entire squad has returned to camp and that coaches are making final adjustments, with particular emphasis on improving efficiency in the attacking department.

“The squad is now complete and training continues smoothly as we await the official schedule for the return of the Premier League. We believe the team will come back stronger,” Ndorobo said.

Mashujaa FC will be aiming to translate their renewed preparations into results as they push for a strong finish to the first round and build momentum for the second half of the season.
