Tanzanian boxer Yusuph Changalawe has confirmed that he will return to full training on January 25 this year as he steps up preparations for a World Boxing Organization (WBO) title fight slated for April.
Changalawe earned the coveted opportunity after delivering a commanding performance at the seventh edition of the Knockout ya Mama tournament held in Tanzania last year, where he secured victory by knockout.
The win proved pivotal, opening doors to international exposure and earning him an offer facilitated by African boxing partners.
Speaking to The Respondent, Changalawe said he is currently observing a short recovery break aimed at restoring his body before commencing an intensive training camp.
Despite the brief rest, the boxer noted that he has maintained light training sessions to keep his body fit and responsive ahead of the demanding preparations.
“After the Knockout ya Mama fight, I took a short break to allow my body to recover, but I have continued with light exercises. I will be returning to full training very soon to prepare thoroughly for my next fight,” Changalawe said.
Looking ahead to the WBO bout, Changalawe expressed strong confidence, emphasizing that disciplined and well-structured preparation will be central to achieving success on the international stage.
He added that the January 25 return to training marks a crucial milestone in his quest to capture the WBO.
