Newly appointed Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Patrobas Katambi, officially assumed office yesterday following a handover ceremony held at the ministry’s headquarters in Mtumba, Dodoma.
Mr Katambi received the office from the outgoing minister, Mr George Simbachawene, in a brief but formal ceremony that marked the transition of leadership at one of the government’s key ministries responsible for internal security and public safety.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Ayoub Mohamed Mahmoud, Permanent Secretary Mr Ally Gugu, Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr Maduhu Kazi, heads of security organs, directors of departments, and other senior officials and staff of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Speaking during the handover, Mr Katambi thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for the confidence shown in him and pledged to work closely with security institutions and ministry officials to strengthen internal security, improve service delivery, and uphold the rule of law.
Mr Simbachawene briefed his successor on ongoing programmes, key priorities, and strategic issues within the ministry, urging staff to offer full cooperation to the new leadership to ensure continuity and effective implementation of government policies.
The ceremony officially marked the start of Mr Katambi’s tenure at the ministry, with Mr Ayoub set to serve as his deputy as the leadership moves forward to implement the government’s security and governance agenda.
