The Minister of Health, Mchamed Mchengerwa, has officially launched the “Talk to the Minister” program, a strategic initiative aimed at bringing the health sector closer to citizens, listening to their concerns, and responding with practical solutions.

Speaking at the launch in Arusha today, January 26, 2026, Mchengerwa said the program sends a clear message: the voice of every citizen is not marginal, but a key guide for improving health services nationwide.

“In the health sector, this is a major transformation. Health is not just about infrastructure or systems; it is about human dignity, protecting lives, and ensuring that every Tanzanian has access to timely and quality care,” he said.

The program also emphasizes the use of technology as a tool to enhance service delivery rather than as a mere showcase of innovation.

“Technology is not the goal; it is a tool to save time, resources, and lives. We will use it to build systems that work for the benefit of citizens,” Mchengerwa added.

Through this initiative, the government aims to reduce the gap between leaders and the public, promoting a leadership model that is accessible, responsive, and service-oriented.

The “Talk to the Minister” program is expected to increase transparency, strengthen public trust in the health sector, and foster sustainable improvements in service delivery across the country.

This program represents a key step toward a health system where citizens actively participate, ensuring that policies and services reflect real needs and challenges on the ground.
