The government has reassured residents affected by floods in Tindiga Ward, Kilosa District, Morogoro Region, that it remains fully committed to supporting them as recovery efforts continue.
Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, Coordination and Persons with Disabilities), Dr James Kilabuko, on January 1, 2026, visited a special camp established to accommodate flood victims from Mateteni and Legeza Mwendo hamlets in Tindiga Ward. The camp is hosting families whose homes and property were damaged by the floods.
Speaking during the visit at Tindiga Primary School, Dr Kilabuko conveyed the government’s sympathies to the affected residents and assured them that measures are being taken to address their immediate needs and restore normal life.
He emphasized that the government stands with citizens in times of hardship and will continue to coordinate relief and recovery interventions.
Dr Kilabuko was accompanied by the Director of Disaster Management from the Prime Minister’s Office, Brig Gen Hosea Ndagala, Kilosa District Commissioner Shaka Hamdu Shaka, and other district officials, who assessed the situation and engaged with residents at the camp.
The floods followed heavy rains that fell on the night of December 26, 2025, in several parts of Kilosa District, causing rivers to overflow and resulting in extensive damage to infrastructure and residential houses, leaving many families displaced.
