FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that the global football body is ready to partner with Tanzania in programmes designed to create opportunities for young people through football.

This includes support for sports infrastructure development and the establishment of technical training centres.

Infantino made the remarks during a meeting with Tanzania’s Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, on the sidelines of the AFCON 2025 final in Rabat, Morocco.

He praised Tanzania for the significant progress made by the government in preparing sports facilities ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027.

“FIFA will support these initiatives and contribute to efforts that promote football and youth development in the country,” Infantino said.

Minister Makonda thanked Infantino for FIFA’s continued cooperation and assured him that President Samia Suluhu Hassan and her government fully support football development initiatives.

He emphasized Tanzania’s readiness to collaborate with FIFA in hosting competitions, conferences, and visits by football leaders and experts.

Makonda also invited Infantino to visit Tanzania to witness the preparations for AFCON 2027, highlighting the government’s commitment to delivering world-class facilities and opportunities for the nation’s youth.
