The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Dr. John Jingu, has urged Community Development Officers to actively engage citizens to address local challenges and accelerate development.
Dr. Jingu made the remarks on January 2, 2026, in Singida while handing over eight motorcycles to officers. The vehicles are intended to help bring government services closer to communities.
“Community Development Officers are vital links between the government and the people. Use these motorcycles to serve citizens, provide information on government programs, and address their challenges. This will boost productivity and contribute to community development,” Dr. Jingu said.
He added that the government, led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, recognizes the role of Community Development Officers and will continue equipping them to perform their duties effectively.
Dr. Jingu encouraged officers to educate citizens about available opportunities, including small business loans, women’s economic empowerment programs, and other initiatives offered by the government in partnership with development stakeholders.
Patrick Kisango, Singida Regional Community Development Officer, thanked the government for providing the motorcycles, saying they would improve efficiency and accelerate development efforts for citizens.
Since 2022/23, the Ministry has distributed 208 motorcycles to Community Development Officers across various regions to strengthen service delivery.
