BAFTA-Winning UK presenter Brydon Bent to visit Tanzania for tourism promotion

By Charles Mkoka

British broadcaster and social media personality Brydon Bent, widely known for his support of Manchester City and his viral Swahili-language videos, is set to visit Tanzania next week.

Bent rose to prominence in Tanzania several years ago after sharing online videos in which he spoke Swahili and expressed admiration for the country’s culture and tourist attractions.

His upcoming visit has been linked to supporting the national tourism branding campaigns #UnforgettableTanzania and #DestinationTanzania.

Bent works as a children’s television presenter on BBC Kids and Sky Kids, hosts programming for Formula 1 Kids, and provides match commentary for Manchester City TV.

In 2024, he won a British Academy Film Award (BAFTA) for Best Emerging Presenter.

“I am coming to Tanzania next week to see Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, and Ngorongoro,” Bent said in a video shared on social media.

“I am coming to the land of beautiful things, Tanzania. I know I promised you for a long time, and now it is confirmed.”

Bent has previously interviewed high-profile sports figures, including Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, former striker Sergio Agüero, and Brazilian footballer Neymar.

A video announcing his visit has been widely shared on social media and is being viewed by tourism stakeholders as a positive signal for Tanzania’s efforts to attract international visitors, including digital influencers, following the recent cancellation of a planned African tour by U.S. streamer IShowSpeed.

Tourism officials say high-profile international visits are increasingly central to Tanzania’s strategy to expand global awareness of its wildlife, cultural heritage, and natural landmarks.
