The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has visited Simba Trailers Company, a leading transit cargo transporter, as part of activities marking Taxpayers’ Appreciation Month.
The visit aimed to thank taxpayers and strengthen collaboration between TRA and the business community.
The delegation was led by Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Mr. Felix Tinkasimile, on behalf of the Commissioner of Customs. During the visit, TRA lauded Simba Trailers for their dependable cooperation in fulfilling customs duties and supporting government revenue collection.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Tinkasimile said the Taxpayer Service Week aims to enhance direct engagement between TRA and taxpayers, address their challenges, provide tax education, and build lasting relationships based on transparency, integrity, and accountability.
TRA highlighted the crucial role of transit cargo operators in promoting regional and international trade through Tanzania’s transport corridors.
Their efficiency, the authority noted, contributes significantly to the competitiveness of the country’s ports and the overall economy.
Simba Trailers’ Chief Executive Officer, prominent businessman Mr. Azim Dewji, praised TRA for creating a more business-friendly tax environment.
He said improvements in tax administration have eased challenges for entrepreneurs and strengthened government-private sector relations.
Mr. Dewji emphasized that tax collection cannot succeed without active participation from businesses and called for continued dialogue between TRA and transit cargo operators to further improve tax systems and procedures.
He also urged Tanzanians to safeguard the country’s peace, underscoring that stability is the foundation of investment and national development.
TRA reaffirmed its commitment to improving taxpayer services, providing tax education, and collaborating closely with stakeholders to create a business-friendly environment that promotes economic growth.
