The Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) has been awarded a special recognition for its outstanding contribution to the development and strengthening of Tanzania’s transport sector.
The award was presented by the Arusha District Commissioner, Mr Joseph Mkude, on behalf of the Minister for Transport, and was received by TARURA’s Director of Infrastructure Planning, Engineer Edward Amboka.
The recognition was conferred during the 18th Transport Sector Performance Review Meeting held at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) in Arusha, which brought together government leaders, development partners and key stakeholders in the transport industry.
During the meeting, TARURA participated as a key stakeholder, presenting the agency’s performance and implementation of activities for the 2024/2025 financial year.
The agency also used the platform to educate stakeholders on its mandate and the wide range of responsibilities it undertakes, particularly in the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of rural and urban road networks across the country.
The award highlights TARURA’s crucial role in improving road connectivity, facilitating the movement of people and goods, and supporting national economic growth by ensuring reliable and efficient transport infrastructure, especially in rural and fast-growing urban areas.
