The Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) has emerged as the second-place winner in the 2024 National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) Awards for excellence in preparing and presenting financial reports in line with International Financial Reporting Standards.

The award, which recognizes outstanding accountability among regulatory bodies, was received by TASAC’s Director of Finance, CPA Pascal Karoomba, on behalf of the Director General, Mr. Mohamed Salum, during a ceremony held at the APC Grounds in Bunju, Dar es Salaam.

Speaking after receiving the accolade, CPA Karoomba said the recognition reflects TASAC’s strong performance in a highly competitive category involving numerous regulatory institutions. He emphasized that the achievement underscores the agency’s consistent commitment to quality and professionalism.

“TASAC has continued to perform well in the NBAA Awards over the years, and this win reinforces our dedication to maintaining excellence in financial reporting,” he said.

He noted that the award demonstrates responsible use of the resources allocated to the agency and highlights its adherence to transparency and accountability in delivering its mandate.

Karoomba added that sustained progress in Tanzania’s maritime sector depends on institutions like TASAC upholding robust accounting standards. He said such standards not only strengthen internal operations but also build international confidence in the country’s maritime systems.

TASAC’s recognition positions the agency as a model for other regulatory bodies striving to align with global best practices in financial management and institutional governance.
