Tanzania’s national swimming and table tennis teams were today presented with the national flag in a send-off ceremony as they prepare to travel to Angola for the 4th African Under-17 Championships, scheduled from December 10 to 20.

Speaking at the event, Charles Maguzu, Senior Sports Officer at the National Sports Council (BMT), encouraged the athletes to give their best on the continental stage.

“Go and compete with determination. Bring pride to the nation and return with trophies and medals. The government has provided both funding and uniforms to support your preparations,” he said.

Henry Tandau, Vice President of the Tanzania Olympic Committee, revealed that the delegation will comprise seven members, including three athletes, two officials, and two coaches.

“Tanzania will be represented by two teams: the swimming team with two athletes and the table tennis team with one athlete,” Tandau explained.

Halima Bushiri, Manager of the teams and also a Sports Officer at BMT, confirmed that preparations are complete and the athletes are ready to compete.

“Our teams are fully prepared and motivated. We are aiming for strong performances and victories,” she said.

This marks another step in Tanzania’s commitment to nurturing young sporting talent and strengthening its presence in continental competitions.
