President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan has called on Tanzanians to reaffirm their commitment to peace, unity and national solidarity as the country celebrates 64 years of independence.

In a message shared through her official social media accounts on Monday, President Samia congratulated citizens on the milestone and underscored that the gains of independence remain visible across the nation calling them a collective responsibility to protect and strengthen.

“We thank the Almighty God for this great milestone. As we commemorate this important day, let us remind one another of the need to continue protecting our national values of peace, unity, and solidarity,” she wrote.

She stressed that these values form the solid foundation of Tanzania’s success story, which continues to stand out on the African continent and globally.

President Samia noted that the true essence of independence is reflected in the country’s ability to make its own decisions, design development priorities, and implement policies that safeguard the interests of its people.

She added that such freedoms mirror the vision and aspirations of the nation’s founders, whose struggle paved the way for a united and stable Tanzania.

“The benefits of independence are seen in our capacity to plan and pursue development that protects the welfare of our citizens. These are the ideals our leaders fought for, and they remain the responsibility of every Tanzanian to uphold,” she said.

As the nation marks Independence Day, President Samia’s message reinforces the enduring call for national cohesion and the shared duty to preserve the values that have shaped Tanzania’s peaceful path.
