The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) has moved to clarify recent claims by the Dodoma Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (DUWASA) that water shortages in parts of the city were linked to electricity challenges at boreholes and water production stations.
In an official statement issued by the Directorate of Customer Service and Communications, TANESCO Headquarters, Dodoma on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, TANESCO categorically denied any electricity disruptions during the reported period.
“There has been no power cut, fault, or interruption that could have affected water supply in the areas mentioned,” the company said, stressing the accuracy of its internal monitoring systems.
TANESCO noted that in cases of planned or emergency power interruptions, it always communicates promptly and officially with both the responsible institutions and the public.
“No such notification has been issued for the Dodoma stations during the period in question,” the statement underlined, challenging the assertion by DUWASA.
The power utility emphasized the importance of accurate public information, warning that misleading statements could create unnecessary alarm and tarnish the reputation of essential service providers.
“We remain committed to working hand-in-hand with all public institutions to ensure smooth service delivery,” TANESCO said.
The company also urged water authorities across Tanzania to maintain financial accountability, particularly in settling electricity bills, noting that such measures are key to sustainable operations.
“Timely payment for electricity is not optional—it is essential for uninterrupted water services and efficient service to citizens,” TANESCO stressed.
TANESCO extended greetings to its customers and all Tanzanians, wishing them a peaceful celebration of Independence Day.
