Taifa Stars have officially kicked off their training camp in Egypt as preparations intensify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to run from December 22 this year to January 1 in Morocco.
The national team arrived in Egypt earlier this week and immediately began structured training sessions designed to improve physical readiness, tactical sharpness and team cohesion.
The camp is expected to provide a calm, focused environment before the squad heads to Morocco for the continental showdown.
Speaking from Egypt, Acting Head Coach Miguel Gamondi said the team is working hard with a clear ambition to elevate Tanzania’s presence in African football.
He emphasized the importance of unity on and off the pitch as Taifa Stars prepare to face tough group-stage opponents.
“We understand that we are in a challenging group, but we are preparing to fight. Tanzanians should not focus only on the immediate results. What is important is continued support for the players, because the real impact of this investment will be seen over time,” Gamondi said.
Gamondi also noted that selecting the final 28-man squad was a demanding process, acknowledging the strong competition among players who had been shortlisted earlier.
He described the high performance levels as a positive sign for the national team’s growth.
Meanwhile, Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, has called on Tanzanians to unite behind Taifa Stars during the tournament.
He stressed that national support plays a crucial role in motivating the team and boosting confidence.
“Success is possible when everyone works together and shows belief in our national team,” Prof. Kabudi said, urging all sports stakeholders and fans to offer consistent encouragement.
Taifa Stars will continue their intensive training sessions in Egypt before travelling to Morocco, where they aim to make a strong statement in this year’s AFCON finals.
