REA DG calls on staff to uphold integrity and drive rural electrification

As Tanzania advances toward universal access to electricity, the Rural Energy Agency (REA) is sharpening its focus on efficiency, teamwork, and accountability.

Engineer Hassan Saidy, Director General of REA, used a staff meeting in Dodoma on December 16, 2025 to underscore that the agency’s success hinges not only on infrastructure but also on the dedication and professionalism of its employees.

Reflecting on the past five years, Engineer Saidy acknowledged the agency’s achievements in expanding electricity to all villages nationwide.

Yet, he cautioned against complacency, stressing that rural communities continue to rely on REA’s services.

“We have made great progress, but our work is far from done. Citizens in rural areas are counting on us for reliable energy. We must not let them down,” he said.

Engineer Saidy emphasized that every unit within REA has a critical role in fulfilling the government’s commitment to deliver electricity to the remaining 13,500 sub-villages by 2030.

He urged staff to work collaboratively, break down departmental silos, and approach challenges proactively rather than allowing misunderstandings or conflicts to disrupt operations.

“Electricity is no longer a luxury; it is a catalyst for development. We must ensure that every rural household experiences the benefits of power, and that requires integrity, knowledge, and teamwork,” he noted.

Beyond operational performance, the REA chief encouraged employees to maintain their health through regular exercise, linking personal well-being to workplace productivity.

Renatus Msangira, REA’s Director of Human Resource and Administration, reinforced the importance of adhering to public service regulations and procedures in daily duties.

The message from REA leadership is clear: as Tanzania pursues ambitious energy goals, the agency’s human capital remains as crucial as its technical infrastructure.

The success of rural electrification depends on a workforce committed to discipline, cooperation, and a shared vision of national development.
