The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Sokoine University of Agriculture (Planning, Finance and Administration), Prof. Amandus Muhairwa, chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project, accompanied by an inspection visit to assess the progress of new building construction at the Mizengo Pinda Campus.
During the visit, Prof. Muhairwa and committee members toured two major construction projects being implemented under HEET funding: an academic building and a student hostel.
The projects aim to improve learning, teaching, and living environments for members of the university community.
The university management reported that the Mizengo Pinda Campus is on track to complete the construction of the two major buildings by May 2026.
Project implementation is progressing steadily and in compliance with established standards and guidelines.
Speaking during the visit, Prof. Muhairwa noted that the HEET Project is a vital instrument for strengthening higher education and aligning it with the country’s economic transformation agenda.
He emphasized that completion of the buildings will enhance the university’s capacity to enroll more students and improve the quality of training.
Prof. Muhairwa also expressed his appreciation to the Mizengo Pinda Campus leadership for their effective and diligent management of the project.
He commended their commitment and discipline in overseeing public resources, which has contributed to positive construction progress and strengthened stakeholders’ confidence in the implementation of development projects at the university.
