The National Sports Council (BMT) convened a joint meeting with the leadership of the Tanzania Paralympic Committee (TPC) to deliberate on preparations and coordination for the federation’s upcoming general election.
During the discussions, both parties reviewed the election procedures in detail, emphasizing the election of new leaders in strict compliance with the federation’s constitution and guidelines. The meeting comes as the current leadership term approaches its conclusion.
It was agreed that the Tanzania Paralympic Committee’s general election will take place on January 26, 2026, in Dar es Salaam.
The decision underscores a commitment to ensuring that the election is conducted transparently, fairly, and in line with the principles of good governance.
BMT stressed the importance of promoting good governance, accountability, and visionary leadership as fundamental pillars for advancing sports for people with disabilities across the country.
Stakeholders were also urged to actively engage in the election process to ensure the emergence of leadership capable of driving the growth and development of Paralympic sports in Tanzania.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain close collaboration throughout all stages of election preparations, including educating members on election procedures and criteria.
