President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has accepted the invitation to serve as the Chief Guest at the Africa Federation Sports Festival 2025, scheduled to take place in Zanzibar later this month.
The festival, the first of its kind to be hosted in Tanzania, is expected to bring together over 500 athletes from across the globe, showcasing a wide range of sports and promoting regional and international sporting ties.
Today, December 12, 2025, President Mwinyi received senior officials from the Africa Federation at the State House in Zanzibar.
Among them were Fadhal Kassam, Chairman of the Africa Federation Sports Board, and Akbar Hassanali, Secretary of Islamic Jamaat Zanzibar.
The discussions focused on preparations for the festival and collaboration to ensure a successful event.
The festival will feature competitions in football, volleyball, table tennis, and cycling. Activities are set to run from December 24 to 28, 2025, at the Maisara Sports Complex in West Urban District, promising an exciting celebration of sports and youth talent in Zanzibar.
