Zanzibar President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has officially received the award naming Zanzibar as Africa’s Best Corporate Retreat Destination 2025.
The accolade follows the Isles’ victory at the 2025 World Travel Awards held in Bahrain.
Dr. Mwinyi was presented with the award today, December 12, 2025, at State House, Zanzibar by the Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hamad Hassan Chande (MP).
The presentation serves as formal recognition of Zanzibar’s significant achievements and growing influence in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism segment.
According to officials, the win positions Zanzibar on the global map as a competitive destination for strategic meetings and high-level corporate retreats, outperforming several countries that were nominated in the same category.
The award further underscores the transformative reforms underway in Zanzibar’s tourism sector, aligned with the Government’s broader agenda to enhance infrastructure, service quality, and an enabling environment for international investment and major events.
Authorities say the recognition reflects ongoing efforts to diversify the tourism portfolio and strengthen the Isles’ status as a premier hub for global business engagements and high-value tourism
