The African Union Special Envoy on Women, Peace, and Security, Ambassador Liberata Mulamula, has expressed profound shock and sadness over the passing of  Jenista Mhagama, calling it a major loss for Tanzania and its people.

Ambassador Mulamula described the late legislator as a courageous and highly dedicated woman who served the nation with professionalism in several key government roles.

“I will never forget how she welcomed me to Parliament for the first time with great humility while serving as Chief Whip, shortly after I was appointed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan as Member of Parliament and Minister of Foreign Affairs in March 2021,” she said.

The Ambassador praised Mhagama as a strong, humble, and approachable leader, noting that she personally learned a lot from her approach to parliamentary debate and careful consideration of national issues.

“She always carried a sense of humor and a warm smile. She was deeply faithful, and we all prayed together at the same parish in Airport, Dodoma. Tanzania has lost a meticulous, hardworking, and people-loving leader. She will always be remembered. The Lord gave, the Lord has taken; may His name be praised. Amen,” Ambassador Mulamula concluded.
