The Tanzania Police Force has praised wananchi across the country for their cooperation in maintaining peace and security during the Christmas celebrations held on December 25, 2025, saying the joint effort ensured calm and orderly festivities nationwide.
In a statement issued from police headquarters in Dodoma, Police Spokesperson DCP David Misime said the collaboration between citizens and security agencies played a decisive role in preventing security incidents during the festive period.
“The cooperation shown by wananchi has enabled this year’s Christmas celebrations to take place peacefully and without security challenges,” said DCP Misime.
He noted that the general security situation across the country remains stable, with citizens continuing to celebrate the festive season while observing the law, regulations and national norms, free from fear or anxiety.
According to the police, the calm witnessed during the celebrations demonstrates growing public awareness of the importance of peace and lawful conduct.
DCP Misime said such behaviour strengthens trust between the public and security organs and enhances preventive security measures.
“The partnership between wananchi and security agencies has become a key pillar in safeguarding peace and creating a conducive environment for social and religious celebrations,” he said.
Calling on the public to sustain the same spirit beyond the festive season, the police spokesperson urged Tanzanians to continue protecting peace, describing it as the foundation of national development.
“We continue to appeal to citizens to uphold peace, as it allows people to celebrate freely with friends and family without fear,” he said, adding that peace is essential for social and economic progress.
He further stressed that without peace, social and economic activities cannot be carried out effectively.
According to the statement, key sectors such as trade, transportation, social services and public service operations are continuing normally across the country, reflecting the prevailing stability.
The Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security in all areas and ensuring the safety of every citizen at all times.
At the same time, wananchi were urged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely information on any suspicious signs that could threaten peace.
“We call upon citizens to report any indications of potential insecurity early, so that swift action can be taken to prevent possible harm,” said DCP Misime.
He concluded by emphasising that peace is a shared responsibility, calling on all Tanzanians to maintain unity, calm and cooperation as the festive season continues and beyond.
