The Palestinian Ambassador to Tanzania, Salim Siam, visited the Dar es Salaam Press Club (DAR-PC) on Thursday, December 18, 2025, signaling a new era of cooperation between his office and the local media.

During the visit, Ambassador Siam called on journalists to amplify the plight of Palestinian civilians and raise global awareness about ongoing attacks by Israeli forces.

“Since October 2023, more than 70,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, including 256 journalists. Entire communities have been devastated, with hospitals, schools, roads, water and energy infrastructure destroyed,” Ambassador Siam told DAR-PC officials at Twiga House.

He emphasized the importance of a united voice against oppression, adding that “the killing of journalists and civilians in one region affects freedom and justice everywhere. Silence only normalizes injustice.”

Reports from organizations like Reporters Without Borders indicate that 67 journalists have been killed worldwide this year alone, nearly half in Palestine.

Since October 2023, around 220 Palestinian journalists have lost their lives, 65 of them while performing their duties. Ambassador Siam urged media practitioners to document and share these events accurately to expose the abuses globally.

DAR-PC Chief Executive Officer Andrew Msechu welcomed the visit, saying the club has closely followed developments in Palestine and remains committed to supporting a free Palestinian state.

“Our journalists have witnessed firsthand the suffering of Palestinians and the harsh conditions under which they operate. This cooperation will help improve access to reliable information and strengthen our role in advocating for justice,” Msechu said.

He added that reporting from Palestine has been challenging due to limited access to verified sources, making the new partnership with the ambassador’s office a critical step toward more accurate and impactful coverage.

Ambassador Siam assured that his office is ready to provide timely updates and full cooperation to journalists, describing the visit as “the start of a meaningful partnership for the benefit of media, the public, and the Palestinian people.”
