The Mining Commission and the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) have strengthened their institutional collaboration to enhance efficiency, transparency, and government revenue collection from mining activities.
The move follows a high level meeting held in Dodoma to review and update the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.
Speaking during the session, the Mining Commission’s Director of Administration and Human Resources, Nsajigwa Kabigi, said the renewed MoU will promote information sharing, joint inspections, coordinated audits, and capacity pbuilding initiatives aimed at improving revenue performance in the mining sector during the 2025/2026 financial year.
He added that the initiative supports the Government’s directive on integrating public sector systems to improve service delivery and accountability across institutions.
TRA Dodoma Regional Manager, Pendolake Elinisafi, noted that TRA continues to strengthen ICT systems, including the use of Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs), and expand tax education for stakeholders to foster compliance through dialogue and collaboration.
The enhanced partnership is expected to improve compliance, increase government revenues, and support sustainable growth of Tanzania’s mining sector.
