Kinambo Village in Sumbawanga District is set to witness new economic opportunities as Australian company Noble Helium launches a fresh helium exploration project from December to February.
The project is expected to create more than 50 jobs for young people, boosting livelihoods and local development.
Speaking in a recent interview, company representative Pius Simeon Mwita said Noble Helium’s previous studies identified strong helium deposits, laying the foundation for larger-scale investment. “Our goal is to ensure that the community benefits directly from this investment,” he said.
Mwita highlighted that in earlier phases, the company created about 450 informal jobs and involved residents in services such as security, supply of materials, food provision, small tenders, and road improvements.
These initiatives injected income into households and supported community development.
He added that assessments and compensation for residents living within the licensed exploration area have been completed, showing the company’s commitment to responsible operations that respect both the law and community interests.
The upcoming exploration will provide an additional 50 employment opportunities, offering young people a chance to participate in the growing helium sector.
Helium has high global demand for medical technology, space exploration, and scientific research. For Kinambo residents, the project represents not only resource development but also a chance to improve their economic well-being and be part of a sector with international significance.
