Former Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa is expected to be the guest of honour at the seventh edition of the Mama Knockout boxing event, set for today, December 31, 2025, at the Posta Grounds in Kijitonyama, Dar es Salaam.
Organisers say all preparations for the much-anticipated showdown have been completed, paving the way for an action-packed evening that brings together leading local and international boxers.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, Mafia Boxing Promotion promoter Anathol Wannah said the event is fully ready and called on boxing fans to turn up in large numbers to support homegrown talent.
He said Majaliwa’s attendance, alongside other government leaders, reflects continued national backing for the growth of boxing and sports development in general, in line with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s commitment to investing in sports as a tool for youth empowerment and national pride.
“The venue is ready and everything is in place. We are now waiting for Tanzanians to come out in large numbers to support our boxers,” said Wannah, expressing confidence that the event will meet international standards.
Entrance fees have been set at TZS 10,000 for general admission, TZS 20,000 for VIP and TZS 50,000 for VVIP, making the event accessible to a broad audience while offering premium viewing options.
The fight card features several high-profile bouts expected to thrill fans. In the main attractions, Frank Shegambe and Yusuf Changalawe will face Abdul Kisenga, while Emmanuel Martey will clash with Asemahle Wellem in a WBO Africa title contest.
The programme also includes a mix of competitive local matchups and international encounters, highlighting the growing profile of Tanzanian boxing on the regional and continental stage.
Wannah urged Tanzanians both at home and abroad to attend and show strong support for local fighters, stressing that fan backing plays a key role in motivating boxers and ensuring championship belts remain in the country.
The Mama Knockout event has steadily grown into one of Tanzania’s flagship boxing platforms, offering local fighters exposure, competitive opportunities and a pathway to international recognition.
