The annual “Kuku Choma Festival” in Moshi is emerging as a powerful platform for boosting local entrepreneurship and creating economic opportunities for residents, thanks to initiatives by Hand in Hand Tanzania.
Held on November 30, 2025, at Hugos Garden, the festival brought together small-scale producers and artisans, offering them a chance to showcase and sell their products to a wider audience.
The event also attracted the attention of local authorities, who hailed its contribution to community development.
District Administrative Secretary, Mr. Shaban Mchomvu, described the festival as a model for linking producers with markets.
“Events like this highlight the potential of Moshi’s entrepreneurs and provide them with practical avenues to grow their businesses,” he said, applauding the creativity behind the festival.
Hand in Hand Tanzania’s Executive Director, Ms. Jane Sabuni, explained that the festival is part of the organization’s broader mission to equip citizens with entrepreneurial skills while providing access to markets.
She emphasized that such initiatives will continue annually to ensure sustained support for local businesses.
Entrepreneurs who participated praised the festival for its tangible impact. Ms. Eliness Shayo, a local artisan, said,
“Through this festival, we gained exposure, increased our sales, and learned to present our products professionally. It has boosted our confidence as entrepreneurs.”he added
