Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo has announced that the construction of the modern Kitunda Secondary School is at an advanced stage and will be completed ahead of the agreed contract timeline, enabling students to start classes soon.
Mpogolo made the statement yesterday in Dar es Salaam during an official education sector inspection tour led by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government Authorities – PMO-RALG), Reuben Kwagilwa.
He assured parents in Kitunda Ward and neighbouring areas that the school, located at Kitunda Relini, will be completed before the expiry of the construction contract.
“I would like to assure parents in Kitunda and surrounding wards that the construction of Kitunda Secondary School will be completed before the end of the contract period,” Mpogolo said.
Construction of the school began in September 2024 under an 18-month contract. However, Mpogolo noted that the project has already reached 96 per cent completion, a pace he described as a clear indication of effective project implementation.
He thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for continued investment in the education sector, saying Ilala District has benefited significantly from government funding aimed at improving learning infrastructure.
According to Mpogolo, the near-completion of the school within one year demonstrates the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education.
Mpogolo added that the progress achieved reflects efficient use of time and prudent management of public funds, ensuring value for taxpayers while delivering essential social services to the community.
