Kinondoni District Commissioner Saad Ahmed Mtambule has urged Tanzanians to strengthen families as a way of safeguarding national values, peace and social justice.
Speaking on Saturday, December 27, 2025, during a religious conference in Dar es Salaam, Mr Mtambule said the family remains the first and most important institution in shaping responsible citizens.
He said growing cases of corruption, misuse of public resources and poor accountability in society often reflect a breakdown of values at the family level.
“Our origin is not a political party or an office. Our true origin is the family,” Mr Mtambule said, adding that strong families form the foundation of peace, justice and national prosperity.
He noted that before schools, political organisations and religious institutions intervene, families play the primary role in instilling discipline, integrity and respect for Tanzanian culture.
Mr Mtambule called on parents and guardians to take greater responsibility in raising young people with strong moral values, warning that neglecting the family institution threatens social stability and national development.
The district commissioner said reinforcing family values is essential in addressing social challenges and nurturing a disciplined and united society.
