The Indian Ambassador to Tanzania, Bishwadip Dey, has assured the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) of continued support and collaboration in tax matters, including knowledge sharing and capacity building.

Speaking during a meeting with TRA Commissioner General, Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, at TRA offices in Dar es Salaam, Ambassador Dey said the ongoing cooperation between India and TRA has strengthened trade between the two countries.

He added that Indian business operators in Tanzania have consistently complied with tax laws, contributing to a transparent business environment.

Commissioner General Mwenda praised the longstanding collaboration with India, noting that it has helped TRA facilitate trade and investment for Indian businesses and investors.

He emphasized that TRA’s efforts to support business growth and investment benefit all, regardless of nationality, while expanding the country’s tax base.

“TRA continues to support businesses and investors, including responsible taxpayers from India. We are committed to serving them, and I will soon meet with them to hear their views and address any concerns,” said Mr. Mwenda.

The Commissioner also called on Ambassador Dey to encourage more Indian investors and businesses to explore opportunities in Tanzania, aiming to further increase tax revenue and economic growth.
