Deputy Minister of Transport, David Kihenzile, has praised the Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) for its outstanding contribution to improving district road infrastructure, a move that has enhanced transport services and eased the movement of goods and people across the country.
Hon. Kihenzile made the remarks while visiting TARURA’s exhibition stand during the opening of the 18th Transport Sector Performance Review Conference at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC).
“I commend TARURA for the excellent work they are doing. Your efforts in upgrading rural and urban roads have been remarkable. Even in Parliament, when we hear that TARURA’s budget is increasing, it gives us confidence that transport services are improving. This directly benefits citizens by making it easier to take produce to markets and access social services,” he said.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that quality roads are not only critical for smooth transport but also for economic growth, enabling farmers and traders to move goods efficiently and reducing the cost and time of travel for communities.
TARURA’s projects have been instrumental in transforming transport networks in both rural and urban areas, contributing to national development by connecting villages, towns, and markets.
By improving road accessibility, the agency has helped boost trade, agriculture, and social services, making everyday life easier for Tanzanians.
Kihenzile encouraged continued investment in road infrastructure, noting that well-maintained roads are key to sustaining economic growth and improving livelihoods across the country.
