The Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) has been named the top performer in financial reporting for 2024, winning first place in the category of self-financing government institutions.
The recognition comes for strict adherence to the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
The award was presented on December 4, 2025, by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) at a ceremony held at the NBAA APC Hotel Conference Center in Bunju, Dar es Salaam.
Receiving the award, DCEA Director General, Mr. Aretas Lyimo, praised the Finance and Internal Audit teams for their professionalism and dedication.
“I sincerely thank all staff, particularly our Finance and Audit teams, for their hard work, professionalism, and commitment to preparing financial statements that meet internationally recognized standards. This award reflects their discipline and teamwork,” said Mr. Lyimo.
He noted that the recognition confirms DCEA’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and compliance with financial laws and treasury regulations.
“DCEA strictly observes principles of transparency and the proper use of public resources to serve citizens. It is a great honor to be recognized by NBAA,” Mr. Lyimo added.
He emphasized that the award motivates the Authority to continue improving governance, integrity, and effective management of public resources.
