DC Msando oversees restoration of Water Wells in Mburahati Ward

By Our Reporter

The District Commissioner (DC) of Ubungo, Abert Msando, has personally inspected water facilities in Mburahati Ward, directing the restoration of four key wells to ensure residents regain reliable access to water.

The wells, located at Kisiwani, Kwa Mrosso, CCM, and Kwa Simba, are operational but require minor repairs.

“I have instructed DAWASA to complete the improvements by Monday so that these wells can start serving the community immediately,” DC Msando said.

He noted that Mburahati Ward will serve as a model for implementing the Ministry of Water’s directive to rehabilitate reserve wells.

The initiative is part of efforts to mitigate water shortages caused by ongoing droughts and climate changes.

“Together with DAWASA experts, I will personally ensure that these orders are executed. This collaboration between local government, DAWASA, and the District Commissioner’s office demonstrates our commitment to serving citizens effectively,” DC Msando added.

DAWASA Chief Executive Officer Engineer Makama Bwire confirmed the instructions had been received and that restoration work had begun immediately.

He also called for a comprehensive list of all wells in Dar es Salaam from local leaders to help prioritize repairs and expand water access.

“This approach will ensure that residents continue to receive reliable water services across the city,” Engineer Bwire said.
